How Chiropractic Works

The Central Nervous System is made up of the brain and spinal cord. The Peripheral Nervous System is made up of nerves that branch off from the spinal cord and extend to all parts of the body.

Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that the Nervous System controls the function of all the organs and all of the cells of the body. The skull protects the brain. The 24 moveable vertebrae (bones) of your spine protect the spinal cord.

If any of the vertebrae stops moving properly or they lose their proper position in relation to the bone above it or the bone below it, a subluxation is created. Subluxations irritate nerves and negatively affect the function of the nervous system. Therefore, if there is a subluxation in your spine, your body will not be functioning at its best.

The chiropractic adjustment describes the art of adjusting the spine using the right amount of force in the right direction to restore subluxated bones of the spine back to their proper positions and releases pinched nerves. With the bones of the spine properly aligned and the nerves exiting the spine not being pressed upon or pinched, the Central Nervous System can once again work @ 100%. This gives the body the best potential to heal itself.

Subluxations can exist with or without pain. Periodic spine alignments by your Charlottesville Chiropractor Dr. Keith Lynch is a great way to stay healthy. At Lynch Chiropractic and Chronic Pain Solutions Dr. Lynch does all spine realignments without twisting, popping or cracking. We are here to help. We’d love to help you.
